Amsterdam,The Netherlands – Time to get Tropical! House of Byfield immediately set the mood with a catchy summer tune while opening his show at Amsterdam Fashion Week. Soon the models were rocking the runway with plentiful colorful designs and natural prints. The materials Byfield used to create his collection are a mix of cotton and polyester fabrics which he processed in a unique way in order to create naturally falling silhouettes, ever emphasizing his inspiration by nature.
Stylist Zouhair Benkabbou explains how he used African inspired jewelry in order to create a leitmotif throughout the show, bringing together the various designs; “It was very important to create symmetric lines with the accessories because all of House of Byfields’ designs and prints are symmetrical as well” Benkabbou explains. “Furthermore all of the jewelry was made with wood, copper or silver in order to emphasize the tropical feeling of the designs”. The tropical, natural atmosphere of the collection was also nicely accentuated by the varying ethnicities of the models walking his show. This complemented House of Byfields’ presentation by making it more cohesive, showing the designers eye for detail. In addition, Make-up Studio did a great job on the hair and make-up of the models, giving the show the finishing touch it needed. The female models got an exotic hairdo with bright lips while the male models got a mix between natural and more straight-on hairstyles, emphasizing the fact that House of Byfield is aiming at a sportive yet classic look.
The show ended with Carmichael Byfield hitting the runway himself with his pack of male models behind him. It gave a fun touch and yet was a powerful statement. Way to go Carmichael!
