ShoesinItaly was born out of two Italians’ dream to be able to bring incredibly luxurious Italian shoes to the US market at an affordable price. Husband and wife, Francesca and Massimiliano (aka Max), came from Italy and moved down to Florida where they decided to open up this online shoe store when they saw how the US market lacked affordable but also luxurious and great quality shoes. As strong shoe-fanatics the couple jumped at the opportunity to bring their love of fashion and shoes into their professional lives.
With strong connections to Italian shoe-makers back in Italy, Max and Francesca are working hard to bring the best shoes that you can find if you happened to be strolling along the Italian streets. They have worked hard and been able to secure free shipping and free returns for all orders. Considering the fact that their shoes are coming all the way from Europe these guarantees helped drive down prices for their products a great deal.
I was given the opportunity to speak with the couple about their budding business and get their opinion on all things shoes! Read below to get the inside scoop!
What quality about your shoes do you take the most pride in?
Max: “We are extremely proud of the quality, but also the fashion sense that our Italian-styled shoes have is what truly sets them apart from other shoes. When selecting shoes to feature on the website we try not to follow any one set style but rather try to incorporate many different styles. This way we can cater to a much greater audience and have greater variety in our products.”
Francesca: “We would not want to restrict our customers to a certain group of people because we believe that everyone should be able to buy a shoe that lasts a long time and makes them feel incredible. Our shoes last. You won’t be wearing them for only one season they have a more classic feel that allows them to last a while.”
I know you mentioned you like to appeal to as many people as possible but do you have a target age group?
Max: “Yes. Our shoes are generally more geared towards women and men aging from 18 years old to 65 years old. Generally our styles and designs are created for someone that wants to be elegant in every occasion even in casual settings. High quality and good style for equally amazing people!”
We aren’t so worried about selling to millions of Americans, rather we want to sell to group of loyal customers that we can pamper and make happy.
Why do you want your customers to have such an immersive experience? What is the story behind the Fairytale concept?
Francesca: “Well it was originally Max’s idea because when he was young he used love reading short stories. And when he was thinking of ways to advertise the company he didn’t want to do just what every other company did which was fill up his email with spam advertisements. He wanted to create a different experience for our customers. Something that was more enjoyable and not just an annoying list of items that are for sale. So to get our customers more engaged we decided to create content with these stories that relate to our shoes. That way people are getting nice, fun stories in their inboxes instead of just prices and products.”
Max: “Yah exactly. We want our customers to enjoy the experience of buying from us. We don’t want to be a nuisance and we don’t want to be pushy. What we want most of all is to create a relationship with our customers. Like our stories, we want them to look forward to getting them. Choosing a pair of shoes is a very personal experience and we believe that the shopping experience should be the same way. We aren’t so worried about selling to millions of Americans, rather we want to sell to group of loyal customers that we can pamper and make happy.”
How do you think the fashion world in Italy differs from the fashion world in the US?
Francesca: “The US has wonderful fashion but when it comes to shoes finding high quality, everyday shoes is very difficult. Italian shoes are made to last and are offered at a much lower price range than if you were buying from a famous US brand.”
Max: “You don’t have to be a billionaire to buy quality shoes. That’s what we are providing for our customers. We get shoes from small artisans and it creates a completely different mentality.”
When did the company go live? When can people start shopping?
Max: “We went live in March and people can start shopping now!”
